Where's My Refund?
Please note: You may check the IRS website (www.irs.gov) "Where's My Refund" tab, any time after 4 weeks from date of filing for status of refund (2015 only).
In most cases a refund by direct deposit should be deposited in the U.S. bank within 16 weeks of E-filing date (until December 31). The IRS only offers direct deposit for the current tax year.
In most cases a refund by check should be received within 26 weeks of filing date (checks are mailed to the name and address on the tax return).
REFUNDS MAY BE DELAYED SEVERAL ADDITIONAL WEEKS DUE TO INTERNAL AUDIT/REVIEW AND IRS STAFF REDUCTIONS.
Per IRS request, a taxpayer should wait a minimum of 16 weeks from the date of filing before making a direct (phone/fax or written) inquiry to the IRS about a refund that has not been received.
